The Mongolian absolutely that fantastic we visited it twice. The Mexican staff and food amazing The Spanish which we did not visit last year as it had just opened when we were leaving didnt disappoint amazing too. We spent our Honeymoon here 3 years ago and when we arrive we still reliving it. This was our 10th visit to the hotel and still exceeding themselves. From the Hotel Concierge to the ground staff this hotel really dos go above and beyond making sure you have a fantastic holiday. I was going to email you to see if you wee about last week but we had so much on including a wedding that the was just not enough days in one week, Defo will try and catch up next time we are over.This hotel really does hit all the buttons. I think it is just TC playing silly buggers as normal, the Mamlouk has been classed as a 4 star with them for some time but I see they have downgraded the Garden beach to a 4 star as well, I think this is just due to the new contract for the winter season which removes international branded drinks from the all inclusive I am given to understand this was TC's Idea and not the hotels but it coincided with the rates being drastically reduced ( not that TC are passing this on to there customers) One think I did find out last week which I did not know over the next two years all hotels in Egypt will be re categorized in a government controlled system which will be more like the European grading system once this has happened I think many many five star hotels will lose stars from there current self categorization.
The marina is the northern end of Hurghada so you would need to take a taxi there you can use Hamada or the hotels limo service I would advise against using the local taxi's (they drive like mad men)
I have just returned last Friday from the Mamlouk so can happily answer any questions that you have, You will be pleased to know you have booked a first class hotel I am sure you will have a great holiday, There are many companies you can book a trip to Luxor with including your tour operator the local company I would recommend is they are competitively priced and if you do the private trip with them your trip guide driver will be a great guy called Chris who is English, There are some shops just over the road from the Garden beach which is next door to the Mamlouk and also just a little further the Senzo mall which has a large super market and many designer shops and a large children's play area if you have kids, just behind the senzo mall is a large go kart track and a paint ball arena the Senzo also has cinemas and fast food outlets.
